Columbus, Ohio – Tournament officials announced today that the eighth annual Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, held September 8-14, 2014 at The Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course, raised a total of $1,125,069 for charitable organizations, including $1,003,769 for pediatric cancer research and treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The total marks the largest single-season charitable donation raised by the tournament for the hospital in the eight-year history of the Tour Finals event. Since its inception in 2007 the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship has donated a total of over $4,475,000 in support of the hospital’s pediatric cancer program.

“We are thrilled to reach such a significant milestone, with the single-season giving total to Nationwide Children’s eclipsing the million dollar mark,” said Matt Jauchius, Chairman of the Board of the tournament’s host organization, Champions of the Community. “Providing support for pediatric cancer research and treatment at Nationwide Children’s is a primary focus of the tournament and it is our great pleasure to be in a position to help advance this critical mission. We thank our corporate sponsors, whose support is critical to our success. We also thank our loyal volunteers, golf fans in central Ohio who continue to support the tournament each year, and the members and staff at The Ohio State University Golf Club for their vital role as our host site. We look forward to more opportunities in the future to build on our successes and continue to support Nationwide Children’s Hospital.”

“We congratulate the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on an outstanding Tour Finals event and are extremely thankful for this generous gift,” said Steve Allen, MD, chief executive officer of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. “The tournament’s support of our pediatric cancer program over the past eight years has changed lives and will continue to do so for years to come. The tournament’s new format as a Finals event provides an enhanced platform to positively impact the care and treatment of thousands of patients and their families every day, by not only continuing to generate funds, as is evident by the 60% increase in the tournament’s charitable donation to Nationwide Children’s since 2012, but also by increasing national exposure for our hospital.”

In addition, the 2014 Charity Ticket Program generated $170,845 in ticket sales. The program, now finishing its seventh year, provides qualifying non-profit entities with 100 percent of the revenue from all tickets sales generated by, or designated for, their organization.

The 2015 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship will be held September 21 – 27 at The Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course and once again be the third of four stops in the Tour Finals.
